A late 19th or early 20th-century ladies’ vanity and sewing companion set presented in a rectangular red leather-bound case with a gilt-tooled border and a metal clasp. The interior is lined with ruched red silk and velvet and features a ribbon retainer for the implements. The set includes a collection of tools with carved mother-of-pearl handles, comprising a crochet hook, a stiletto, a corkscrew, and a small folding penknife with mother-of-pearl scales. Additional steel tools include a nail file and a bodkin. The set is accompanied by several original paper packets of Sharps sewing needles, including branding for Crystal Packet.
