A vintage British Rail winter uniform cap, commonly referred to as a shunter’s style cap. The exterior is constructed from a dark charcoal grey wool or wool-blend fabric. It features a stiffened black peak with a cross-hatch textured finish and a green fabric lining to the underside. The cap is designed with integral fold-down ear and neck flaps, which are currently secured in the upright position. A chrome-finished metal badge depicting the British Rail double arrow logo is fixed to the front. The interior crown contains a clear diamond-shaped protective label for the T.U. Cap Co. (Tailor-Made Uniforms Cap Company) and includes the number 28/284. A small yellow adhesive sticker indicates the size. The interior is finished with a tan-coloured sweatband.
