The set is presented in uniform dark blue textured cloth bindings with gilt-stamped lettering and decoration to the spines. Each spine features the title and author, decorative bands, and a gilt device depicting a winged creature above four stars. The front boards each bear a central blind-stamped version of the same winged creature device. The series includes works such as Lorna Doone by R. D. Blackmore, Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë and Agnes Grey by Anne Brontë, Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë, Vanity Fair by W. M. Thackeray, Ivanhoe by Sir Walter Scott, The Vicar of Wakefield and She Stoops to Conquer by Oliver Goldsmith, The Woman in White by Wilkie Collins, The Mill on the Floss by George Eliot, Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, and The Cloister and the Hearth by Charles Reade. A printed black title page for Wuthering Heights shows the publisher’s name and the date 1933 alongside the winged creature device.
