A selection of vintage metal relief printing plates associated with the Oxford butchery and food manufacturing trades. The group includes a large rectangular plate featuring an ornate scroll design with relief text reading EMPIRE SAUSAGE above script reading J.C. Curtis & Sons and English Pork Butchers, further inscribed Famous since 1886 and MEMBERS OF THE INSTITUTE OF MEAT, with reference numbers DD 27 and 398. A second cutout plate is shaped to follow the script text J.C. Curtis & Sons. A rectangular strip plate bears the relief text HAM SAUSAGE and the reference marks DD 27 398. A fourth shield-shaped plate is relief-cast with H.J. WOODS LTD above OF OXFORD and the reference DD 9. The plates are unmounted solid metal, likely composed of zinc or lead alloys.
