A Chinese cork carving landscape diorama, a traditional handicraft associated with the Fujian province. The three-dimensional scene is intricately hand-carved from fine cork and features a central multi-tiered pagoda or pavilion set amongst rocky terrain and a large gnarled pine tree with finely detailed needle clusters. Two small figures of cranes, painted white, are positioned within the landscape. The diorama is enclosed within a circular glass housing, permitting viewing from both sides. The display is held within a circular wooden frame that integrates into a rectangular base. The frame and base are finished in a dark red lacquer with mottled black decorative accents. The base is further detailed with pierced geometric fretwork patterns on either side.
