An antique single-needle railway block signalling indicator, featuring a design consistent with instruments used by the Midland Railway. The instrument is housed in a polished mahogany case with a decorative stepped pediment and a mounting base with four pre-drilled holes. The glazed square aperture reveals a dial divided into three specific operational sectors: a green sector at the top left inscribed LINE CLEAR, a red sector at the bottom left inscribed TRAIN ON LINE, and a white sector on the right with a red triangular central segment inscribed LINE BLOCKED.
An ivorine-style plaque is mounted above the dial with the incised black text UP LINE. The central black indicator needle is flanked by two small white stop pins. The side and rear of the case retain brass electrical binding posts and terminals. The construction utilizes dovetail joints on the primary housing. No specific maker marks are visible on the exterior of the case.
