A Victorian hot water urn, commonly referred to as a tea urn or samovar, constructed from copper and brass. The piece features a globular copper body with a stepped, domed lid, surmounted by a turned black ebonised composition knob. It is fitted with twin cast brass reeded handles and an ornate brass spigot with a decorative tap handle. The vessel is raised on a waisted copper pedestal foot terminating in a circular base. A manufacturer’s mark is present on the shoulder of the body near the spigot, consisting of a stamped crest-shaped impression, though the specific characters are not clearly legible. The copper body and base are formed, while the handles and spigot are cast and secured with mechanical fixings and soldering.
