An early 20th-century three-tier folding cake stand constructed from dark-stained mahogany. The piece features three circular solid wood tiers, each finished with a decorative moulded bead edge. The tiers are secured within a folding frame consisting of two upright supports joined by a turned mahogany carry handle at the apex. The frame terminates in splayed trestle-style feet. This type of occasional furniture is a traditional British design intended for the service of afternoon tea and is designed to fold flat for storage. No maker’s marks or labels are visible.
