A British miniature hand-cranked chain-stitch sewing machine of heavyweight solid cast metal construction. The machine features a green crinkle-finish painted frame and is mounted to a rectangular polished wooden base with bevelled edges. The mechanism is hand-operated via a side-mounted metal wheel with a black turned handle, activating a needle bar, presser foot, and feed dog assembly. The sewing bed is composed of plated steel. The main metal arm casting is embossed with the characters GRAIN and MADE IN ENGLAND. The reverse side of the handwheel casting is embossed GRAIN. An oval metal badge is affixed to the wooden base, embossed with the characters GRAIN.
