An antique brass tripod bowl of cauldron form, constructed with a rounded body and a wide, flared rim. The vessel stands on three separately cast feet, which are brazed to the base. Each foot is ornamented with a decorative lion-mask terminal and terminates in a stylized paw. The body appears to be formed from spun or hammered brass. The interior of the vessel shows a significant accumulation of dark residue and soot, suggesting past use as a small hearth pot or for the burning of materials. No maker’s marks or hallmarks are present on the body or base of the item.
