A late Victorian carved oak coal purdonium of rectangular form, featuring a scrolled top and a matching plinth base. The drop-front door is inset with a relief-carved panel depicting a central rose and foliate spray within a moulded frame, topped with a turned wooden handle. The interior is fitted with a removable metal liner for coal storage, which includes a wire swing handle. The back of the liner is finished with a floral-patterned paper lining. A secondary black-painted metal carry handle is mounted to the reverse of the wooden carcass.
