A pair of cast iron fireplace andirons, also known as firedogs, designed in the Victorian style. The andirons are constructed from cast iron with a matte black finish. Each piece features a decorative front pillar of rectangular form, cast with neoclassical foliate and acanthus leaf ornamentation. The pillars are surmounted by stepped, projecting capitals and supported on scrolled twin-foot bases decorated with matching leaf motifs. Extending from the rear of each decorative front is a horizontal square-section iron bar intended for log support, terminating in a simple downward-pointing bracket foot. There are no visible maker marks, stamps, or inscriptions on any part of the items.
